Principal’s Personal Statement – 2018
A warm welcome to Whangarei Boys’ High School.
We are immensely proud of the rich history and traditions of our school, where Northland’s young men have been educated since 1881
We are firmly focused on improving outcomes for all students so that boys move on from us with relevant qualifications and clear choices for their future. Whangarei Boys’ High School places high value on students reaching their full potential in all areas of learning, including the classroom, on the sports field and on the stage. Our school culture is strongly student-centred, focused on the holistic development of our students. We understand the needs of young people are ever evolving and we strive to ensure that our curriculum reflects the current and future needs of our students.
Our school roll is currently 1180, with students coming from throughout the Whangarei District and all over Tai Tokerau to attend Carruth House, our boarding hostel. We are proud of our richly varied and diverse school community and value our strong relationships with the wider community. We are particularly grateful for the high levels of engagement from our parent community in supporting all our students to succeed.
In partnership with our students and whānau, we look forward to supporting the development of our future ‘fine young men’ during another successful year at Whangarei Boys’ High School.
