Whangarei Boys’ High School takes great pride in its Performing Arts and cultural programmes. Each year the school hosts musical evenings featuring the school vocal group, the Fideliter Jazz Band, soloist and group performances. The annual Festival of Performing Arts is a feast of Music and Drama performances held in the middle of each year.
The school participates in the smokefreerockquest, The Big Sing, The University of Otago Sheila Winn Shakespeare Festival, Stage Challenge, and the Chamber Music Competition. These are all national competitions held at regional level. For the last six years, WBHS has been represented in Wellington at the Shakespeare Festival held during Queen’s Birthday Weekend, with five students being selected to attend the Globe Theatre as part of The New Zealand Young Shakespeare Company.
Senior Drama productions take place in the third term of each year to sell-out houses and always present high-quality, humorous performances.
