Anzac Hockey Festival:  Wed 25th April – Friday 27th April

WBHS 1st XI Hockey ANZAC pre-season tournament at St Paul’s Collegiate in Hamilton,

Five games were played over three days, four of which were won.

Game 1: 5-0 WIN vs Wairarapa College – man-of-match, Oliver Hawker.

Game 2: 5-1 WIN vs Napier Boys’ High School – man-of-match, Brandon Peck.

Game 3: 2-1 WIN vs Hastings Boys’ High School – man-of-match, Oliver Hawker.

Game 4: 0-4 LOSS vs Westlake Boys’ High School – man-of-match, Kyle Parsons.

Game 5: 3-0 WIN vs Hamilton Boys’ High School.

Swimming: Mon 16th April – 20th April   National Age Group Championships in Auckland

700 Swimmers from around the country competed. Tyler Jepsen, Yr 9 took  silver in 200m backstroke and in 400m freestyle while setting a new time for the Northland long course age group record, set by  Jeremy Elliot in 2015.

Tyler Jepson placed fifth in 400m freestyle and eighth in both the 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle.  Great results Tyler

NZSS Go 4 12 Adventure Racing:   Fri 13th – Sun 15th April in Hawkes Bay. 4 teams from WBHS entered and Team yellow:  Lochiel Espiner, Blake Williamson, Johnny Wilson and John Magrath came 3rd   with 2835 points and Team Black Heath Mitchell, Mika Hill, Campbell Jones; Lucas Thompson came 4th with 2720 points.

Race organisers awarded   WBHS a sportsmanship prize for their selfless act of helping a rival team who were stuck on the Tukituki River

2nd X1 Thur 26th April WBHS vs MGK     Default as we were in Hamilton that week.

BMX : Angus Darroch competed in the 17- 24 yr  Male  BMX Nationals in New Plymouth at Easter. He came a respectable 14th place which qualifies him to enter the world BMX Championships at the end of the year in Baku, Azerbaijan.
